A note from an athlete...
Since the time I attended FCA in high school I fell in love with the organization. As an impressionable young athlete I found the influence of Huddle leaders and FCA coaches to mold my life in a very positive way. I loved performing in the arena of sports, but competition alone was not enough to motivate me to my utmost potential. I learned to love sports because my sacrifice in athletics was worship to Christ.
Unfortunately this lesson can be buried beneath the guise of collegiate athletics. The intense practice routines, hectic class hours, and chaotic race schedules were more than enough to occupy my time and drain my energy. During the more stressful times of college it was easier for me to push God into a small corner –focusing on everything else on my plate rather than drawing on Him for strength. Sometimes lessons need to be learned more than once. This past FCA National College Conference was the inspiration I needed. It was my reminder of what a wonderful maker God truly is. He made me, and when I feel overwhelmed with too much to do and I think I don’t have time to worship Him, then I remember that running is a passion that he gave me. As a steward I will use my talent to praise Him. FCA calls this “Doing Sports God’s Way.” My body is Christ’s and with His power I can do all things. What a wonderful God we have –that he would provide us with passions and then bless us exponentially when we pursue those passions in His name. - Bradley University Athlete
